A pipe cleaner sculpture I did of Chibiterasu from Okamiden. If I can find skin colored pipe cleaners, I'll make Kuni to ride on his back. Time it took: five hours Number of pipe cleaners: around 80 Cost in materials: $5.00
Amazing! could you possible teach me how to make something like this? please? im begging you...i've been trying to make these for months now and i always end up wasting pipe cleaners :(
Do you have examples of pipe cleaner sculptures you've already made? All the people I know who make these usually go about it in different ways, there's not really a standard "How to do this" formula.
Here's what I do... First I make an armature (which basically looks like a skeleton with added support), then I wrap pipe-cleaners around that armature to make the "skin". Each armature looks different depending on what creature I'm making. Chibiterasu's armature didn't look anything like a dragon's would.
All of my sculptures are hallow on the inside, but since I make the armatures super strong, they don't get crushed as easily. They have a surprising amount of weight to them when they're finished.
I don't have any sculptures of my own, the ones I make don't end up the way I would like them to(e.g. neck to long, limbs not even, or just weird looking) so I dismantle them...yours looks like it supposed to.
I know this might be asking to much, but would you be able to take pictures during your next project, just so I have a visualization that I can reference to?
